Getting Settled in Oregon

Hi Everyone!

Kelsey and I have been doing pretty good since we moved to Oregon. We got at apartment after weeks of searching and its pretty nice. We picked up a 2 Bedroom with a large living room and we've been living here comfortably for a few weeks now. We live right across the street from a few cafes and a short drive/walk to lots of shopping and food places.

Kelsey has been pretty busy with school, sometimes putting in 10 hours a day on assignments. It helps that she has been able to get on the bus right outside our apartment and best of all its free and quick.

Because of how busy Kelsey has been, I've been in charge of unpacking, decorating and furnishing the apartment. We have almost everything we wanted to purchase for the apartment including 2 desks, a couch, a living room chair, table, 2 dressers, TV stand and a coffee table.

Last weekend, Kelsey's parents drove here to bring us the rest of our stuff and visit. We had lots of fun while they were here. We went to Newport the first day and saw the Sea Lions hanging out on the docks and briefly visited the Hatfield Marine Science Center. Afterwards, we went to Local Oceans for some fresh seafood. We had some Dungeness Crab as an appetizer. Then for entrées, Kelsey had the fish tacos, Cheryl had the Pan Fried Oysters, Scott had the Fish'n'Chips and I had the Tuna Mignon. Everything tasted wonderful.

The second day, we ventured around the downtown area were they had a farmer's market going on. We all came back with something nice. Later we went wine tasting 10 miles north of Corvallis in the Willamette-Valley. We visited Emerson Vineyards and the Airlie Winery, both of which had excellent wines. We were told that they can't grow Merlot, Cab, or Shiraz in Oregon. The only red they had were variations of Pinot Noir, which tasted pretty good. We really liked the white wines they had. Best Chardonnay we've tasted. Pinot Gris and the Riesling was really good too. After we got all liquored up, we headed back to the apartment for a nice dinner cooked by non other than myself :). To top it all off, we had chocolate cake for Cheryl's Birthday. It was nice to have visitors. Hopefully, we'll have more soon :).

Yummy Food!
