Hello Everybody!
Sorry it has been awhile since my last entry. I have been without internet for about a week now.
We went on an orientation trip to Lorne with all of the new international students. We had a lovely time. The three girls and I from UWW stayed in a cabin together and killed our first spider (it wasn’t poisonous). There were white cockatoos everywhere. On Tuesday, we learned how to surf. I almost got up on my feet, but not quite. Surprisingly, the water wasn’t too cold with wetsuits, but my calves did cramp up a bit. I got up to one knee, so good for me. The girls and Mike all stood up at least once. That afternoon, we went on an intense hike in the bush were we saw kangaroos, a koala, and a bull ant. The bull ants sting you with formic acid. Ouch. We were extremely worn out. When we finally got to Warrnambool, we moved into our dorms. I live with 13 other people, and share a double kitchen and common room with them. The bathrooms are coed, I will have to get used to that. They took us horseback riding on the beach and through the sand dunes, that was cool. We had new student orientation, but missed a bit of it because they were having trouble enrolling us in our courses. There is too much information. I am feeling very overwhelmed. On Saturday, we went to Tower Hill, a crater of a volcano with a wildlife preserve. We saw koalas, a copperhead snake, and got very close to a whole family of kangaroos. Later, we went to Logan’s Bay in Warrnambool and caught a glimpse of a mother southern right whale and her calf. I’ll have to go back there again. Once I get through all of the official university stuff and figure out my classes, I will have more time to do the fun stuff.
